PECH @ Marco's Pizza

Earlier this evening, Leo Kimberly + her mom + Brother Christopher (Corporate Affairs Manager of PECH), brought the 18 kids from the Home to Marco's Pizza in Kelana Jaya. The dinner, sponsored by MXM International Sdn. Bhd (owner of Marco's Pizza), started at 5.30pm and saw the kids being served with pastas + pizzas
They gave us sweets while waiting for the food to arrive :)
Our first dish! Penne Aglio Olio :)
Little Thulasi gets comfortable with the pillows
Then the food came altogether and I was so excited I forgot to snap pictures until all the food was almost finished :(
The kids enjoyed themselves and it was a rare treat for them. Yummy!

At about 7pm, a gift was given from the management to PECH, and the children returned home with a hearty meal in their tummies.

Institut CECE Dolphin Theme Launching Ceremony

Once again, that's not the actual name (which is too long) called the Launching Ceremony of Three CECE Significant Activities Based on the UNEP 2007 Dolphin Theme. and, be ready for a super long post -but only because i have lots of pictures :)

This morning at about 10am, the Leos picked up 6 kids from PECH (the rest had to stay due to a simultaneous actvity in their Home) and headed to Setapak (the furthest place Leo Kimberly has ever driven so far :D ) to Institut CECE. Only the younger children were invited because it was an early childhood thing, but we brought one of the older kids as well to help us babysit :D

After registration and before we were instructed to go anywhere, the children had a go on the swings in the playground
then they gathered...
... for lunch.
the Leos helped serve the children and attended to their every need then the children were gathered again for a "wayang kulit" storytelling session about a dolphin (which i didnt manage to catch pictures because it was too dark)then the children were split into two groups......for another dolphin story. Then, they were given some materials and were instructed to draw a dolphin and create their own artwork.the Leos had a chat with some of the children before they started, to get themselves acquainted and to answer any queries the children had.
(then they noticed my camera) :D the children quickly got started drawing their dolphins Ajay decided to draw the sea first :)
then the Leos helped supervise......while the children put finishing touches on their artwork. then they proudly showed it off to us!

then they gathered the children into the hall...
for the launching by YB Datuk Ong Tee Keat, Deputy Minister of Higher Education.
then the homes were all presented certificates for their participation...
... and everyone adjourned for tea...
...(biscuits and barley!) before heading home.
the Homes that participated were PECH, House of Joy, Rumah Destiny and Gurpuri Foundation, as well as a few kindergartens around the area.

DBKL Appreciation Night

Okay, it's not really called that but the actual name is Majlis Malam Penghargaan Kepada Petugas Kempen Derma Darah dan Sukaneka Hari Wilayah Persekutuan Tahun 2007, which really is a mouthful and is too long to go into the title bar :D

Anyway, Leo Thiam Beng and Leo Kimberly were invited for the event this evening at Dataran Perdana in Lake Gardens because they helped out at the Sukaneka event in... February... or was it March?

There were photos of the blood donation campaign (which we didnt go) and the Sukaneka on display, which captured a lot of people's interest.
Lion Edmund Foo, DC Lions with DBKL, and a few other Lions were also present.
oh... and the Leos from SMK Dato Lokman too :) at least we had some company.
There were quite a few VIPs present, though there wasnt as many people as we thought there might be.
After the speeches, presentation of certificates, etc., everyone was treated to a free dinner :)
Makan!

When it was about 11pm, we left (although the event wasnt over yet) because the Lions + Leos were leaving :D paiseh.

KL Wesley Methodist Church Food and Fun Fair

This morning, the Leos woke up super early to be at the Praise Emmanuel Children's Home (PECH) by 9.30am. There, we picked up 3 kids and a caretaker and headed to the KL Wesley Methodist Church (somewhere along Jalan Hang Jebat) for their Food and Fun Fair.

Apart from celebrating their 110th anniversary, the fair is also held to raise funds for new buildings and facilities.

PECH was given RM800 worth of coupons (FORTY books of RM20 each) to tapau foodstuff and buy groceries for the Home. We started off our shopping tapau spree by buying a few packs of Solivite (some sort of drink similar to Vitagen, fyi) (ref to background in pic)

Then went on to buy some pies for their tea...
and then the children got thirsty so we bought a few cups of soya bean milk for them :D
Then the Leos had to line-up to buy pork (yes, pork, in a funfair). "siu-yuk", to be more specific...
... and 20 very heavy bottles of fruit juice...
...and rounded everything up with buying dim sum and char siew pau.

In the 2 hours we were there, (apart from the items mentioned above), we also bought dorayaki, 60 sticks of satay, curry puffs and vadais, fried chicken drumsticks, pizzas, sweet corn, char kuay teow, fruits, bottles of 100 plus and many many many more things.

So many that we had to walk 2 rounds to the car, even with 6 pairs of hands. And we had trouble stuffing everything into the car boot :D

The food will definitely last them quite some time, and I think it is most commendable for whoever it is that donated the coupons to the children, to do that noble deed.
