Leo Joint Beach Cleaning Project

Date: 10th March 2013(Sunday)
Venue: Teluk Cempedak
Attendance: 1 Member (Leo Maggie)

As we thought that the formation night the day before will keep the Kuantan Leos tired of their event planning, we never thought that they can actually get up from bed early in the morning the very next day to grab the opportunity to clean the beach with the Leos who stayed over that attended their dinner.

This happens to be their very first project after their formation which is also a joint project together with several alpha and omega Leo Clubs from Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya.

The project took place at Teluk Cempedak very early in the morning where Leos gathered together at the beach with their trash bags and plastic gloves. Once the gloves are on, everyone started locating rubbish around and worked together in groups to different areas of the beach.

After about a few hours, everyone started packing up and tied up the trash bags. We managed to take some group photos as it marked the end of the project. It was a fun and meaningful project as people from urban areas hardly get to experience a unique project as such.

We should definitely work together for more joint projects with them in the future as it brings us to more exposure and friendships across states.

Formation Night of Omega Leo Club of Kuantan

Date: 9th March 2013(Saturday)
Time: 7.30p.m. – 11.00p.m.
Venue: Sri Manja Boutique Hotel, Kuantan
Attendance: 1 Member (Leo Maggie Tan)

It was a night of colors with a stage where we can see the once innocent and fearful Alpha Leos taking a huge step to a larger commitment in their club. It was a short notice for about a month or two before for their club formation but it turned out to be a successful and meaningful night for them.

The event started off with a welcoming video that shows their preparation for the big day ever since day one. Then the meeting was called to order followed by the national anthem and the Leo pledge.

Speeches were delivered by the Organizing Chairperson, Presiding Officer and District Chairman for Leo Development of District 308 B1.

The highlight of the night was then proceeded where the initiation and installation ceremony of the new members and new board of directors were done with the presentation of the gong and gavel, chain of officers and also the Leo Club of Kuantan banner to the chartered president, Leo Lim Zu Jian.

He then delivered his welcoming speech which focuses on making a big step taking the role of the club president.

The night was colorful, as stated at the start of this report as there are quite a number of performances that took the hearts of the crowd.

The crowd was entertained with dance performances such as kpop and hiphop dances as well as solo singing performances. There was also a special appearance of a transsexual “Lady Gaga” that kept the crowd screaming and wanting for more performances. It was indeed a climax for the night.

The event ended with lucky draw sessions and group photos. I was pretty fortunate to get picked on for the lucky draw session! Apart from that, each club representative went home with a souvenir specially made by the Kuantan Leos.

Despite being the end of the formation night, it certainly did marked the beginning of a new journey to the club. We should all look forward to their growth and achievement!! ROAR!
