Hong Kong Trip 2009 & Twinning Dinner with Leo Club of HK The Peak

On the 24th of June 2009, Leo Sheng Wei, Leo Eong Xien, Leo Jia Yi, Leo Samantha and guest Cindy embarked on a trip to Hong Kong. Despite initial fear of Influenza H1N1 contraction, we were set to make what is to be the final project of the fiscal year FUN. Armed with our masks, our goal was to eat, shop, play, socialize and eat.

We did a lot of exploring in the first 3 days, namely visiting tourist attractions like Tsim Tsa Tsui's Avenue of Stars, Mongkok's Ladies Market, Temple Street, Central Hong Kong's Mid-level Escalator, The Peak as well as Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum. We quickly realize that there are so much options for the shopaholic. Imitation products on Ladies Market, sportswear in Mongkok or affordable apparels at H&M, it's a shopper's haven yet our tight purses kept us rooted to the ground. A bit potong stim, you see. Never mind, I could see Leo Sheng Wei taking interest in the next Hong Kong trip already. Right after his shop-til-you-drop Bangkok trip. ;)

In the eating department, there is certainly no short of supply! I've lost count how much meals and between-meal snacks with taken throughout the trip. We would like to thank Leo Samantha Yung of Leo Club of HK Peak for brining us around throughout the 5 days of our trip. The Mongolian hotpot/steamboat (火鍋) dinner she introduced us to was scrumptious, where we served a large plate of thinly cut slices of lamb. If you're a lamb lover, this is something worth trying. We were also introduced to one of the oldest traditional dim sum parlour (點心) in Hong Kong central. Things were done in the old-fashioned way, with staff pushing carts after carts of dimsum dishes. Other highlights of our food trip includes the oh-so-smooth Double Skin Milk 雙皮奶 @ Yik Sun, hot and fluffy egg tarts 蛋撻 from Tai Cheong Bakery 泰昌餅家, cold noodles at Mongkok street (Don't worry, we're talking about opening a KL franchise in 2015!) & the famous Hong Kong congee. The thing about Hong Kong food is that once tasted the good ones, you will never return to the mediocre counterparts found in KL.

On our last night in Hong Kong, our sister club Leo Club of HK The Peak hosted their anniversary cum twinning dinner. Since it was probably the first twinning project that any 5 of us experienced, it was great to see how lively and close their members seem to be. The dinner proved to be a great way to know new people, exchange ideas, observe different cultures etc. Although we barely knew most of them prior to the dinner but we quickly warmed up to them. We like to thank the Leo Club of HK The Peak for hosting us that night and also the Monopoly HK edition present. That night we actually played until 4am!

As we were to leave on Sunday evening, we only did some last minute shopping around Jordan area. Leo Samantha Yung brought us to the airport and sent us off. Our hearts were heavy, yet the trip has to come to its end. Nevertheless, the trip will always be etched in our memories. Last week, Leo Samantha Yung posted on her Facebook, saying that Leo Life has given her the opportunity to meet lots of, especially Malaysian friends. We agree wholeheartedly and probably as enthusiastic as she is, we are looking forward to their trip to KL already.

And we know where to start - food. =D

Here's to our 6 years of successful twinning, and more. Cheers!

Roar! Roar! Roar!
