KL Unity Social Outing to Bukit Tabur

Date                                       :          27/03/2011
Time                                      :          7:00am – 1200pm
Venue                                    :          Bukit Tabur @ Taman Melawati

We began hiking Bukit Tabur at 7.20am. Our initial start off time was 7.00am, due to little miscommunication
and that some of us woke up late we were slightly behind time.

It was a challenging start at first as there was a long stretch of steep steps from the entrance to the first peak (7 peaks in total), and we weren’t warmed up. We started panting after 10mins of steps-climbing, but we
soon regained our form and it seemed easier after.

Whenever one of us was tired, we would suggest breaks and everyone gathers for water and also light refreshments.

At the second peak, we were awed by two breathtaking sceneries. One of it, a valley of trees and hills and a crystal blue lake with light mist hovering over it. The second, a complete view of Kuala Lumpur City Center and of course Malaysia’s most spectacular skyscraper KLCC and KL Tower.

We climbed up and down from peak to peak while making sure everyone is good to go. A lot of rock climbing action were involved and also a mini abseiling without harness.

It was a little scary and tiring for all of us but we manage to make it through with all the adrenalin, excitement, help as well as support from each and every one of us. We also got to know other groups of hikers along the way.

After a series of strenuous peak climbing, we reached a change of environment.

We then began jungle tracking our way out of the hill. We ended the hike and got back to our cars at 11.30am followed by lunch after.

Overall, it was a very interesting trip with mixed environments from mud and trees to stones and rocks, a good display of teamwork and perseverance and not forgetting nature at its best, the ultra cool morning
