The preparation and rehearsals started at 1.30pm. Leos and Lions started pouring in for the registration at about 2.30pm. At about 3pm, the Joint Installation officially began with the arrival of the Lion dignitaries. Then the meeting was called to order by the presiding officer, followed by the national anthem, and Leo pledge. Then the presiding officer, Lion Tony gave an address.

In the Initiation ceremony, all the new members were inducted by District Chairperson Lion Foo. New member from our club is Leo Jessica. Then the Installation ceremony took place, where all the incoming board of directors were sworn in to office. When the presidents were installed, Vice District Governor Lion Lau presented each president with their own gavel and president’s badge. Then Lion Lau witnessed the handing over of the Leo Insignia from the outgoing president to the incoming president.

At about 5.30pm, the presiding officer Lion Tony adjourned the meeting. A group was taken after that. Then the buffet line was first opened to the Lions, then to the Leos. In the meanwhile, there was also a lucky draw section for the audience. The event officially ended at about 6.00pm.

In conjunction with the Mid-Autumn Festival, we have visited PJ Caring Home which located at Petaling Jaya. Before heading to the home, we have bought some moon cake and daily necessaries such as oatmeal, coffee, for them. We reached PJ Caring Home at 10.30am. We start up with an opening speech. After the speech, we tend to do some basic exercise fun and physical fitness with them.

After the exercising, we prepare moon cake as well as coffee for them to enjoy.

In the meanwhile, the Leo members perform dancing to entertain them.

Later on, we have a group picture with them before heading back.

Before heading back, the person-in-charge, Mr Peru brought us to the ‘Women Home’.
When we reach there, the residents were actually prepared to have their lunch. So we help them to prepare and also feed those oldest residents.

We left the home around 1pm.

Leo Club of KL Unity celebrated their 17th Anniversary Dinner on the 9th September 2012 at Euro Deli, Damansara Kim. A total 52 guests attended for the Anniversary Dinner, including Lions Club of KL North, Leos from Leo Club of KLCC, Perennial, Southern Cross, LDU PJ, Nilai UC, Petaling Jaya Integrity and invited guests. Dinner started at 8pm with Lion Donald called the meeting to order, president speech by Leo Peir Ee and Lion Advisor, Lion How. Leo Jessica was the emcee of the day.
Performances that night were singing and music instrumentals by Leo Teddy and Leo Hoong Yih. Later on, new member of KLU, Leo Wan Chern perform the well know ‘Gangnam Style’.
Birthday cake was cut by Leo Club of KLU and Lions. Event ended at 11pm.

KL Alpha Leo Clubs Joint Installation 2012

Total 6 Leo Clubs, Leo Club of SMK Cochrane, SMK Jinjang, SMK Damansara Utama, SMK Kepong Baru, SMK USJ 13 & SMK Bukit Jalil, organized KL Alpha 12th Joint Installations together held at YMCA Hall.
Leo Kan Sha attended this event and reaches the venue at 8.30am. The Joint Installation officially started at 9.30am with Opening Ceremony & Committee performance. Presiding Official Lion Adel Tangs later call the meeting to order.
The event continues with welcoming address by Organizing Person, Leo Wai Wai from SMK Cochrane & Presiding Officer, Lion Adel Tangs. Induction Ceremony was done by District Chairman Lion Foo & Installation ceremony done by District Governor, Lion Chan Hoi followed by Guest of Honor, District Governor Lion Cha Hoi address.
The event ended with performance, August & September Birthday Babies & Group Picture. Lunch was provided. Everyone went back at 1pm.

Leo Clubs Joint Installation 2012

Total 4 Leo Clubs, Leo Club of City West (O), Damansara (O), SMK Datok Lokman & SMK Kepong, organized a joint installation for the first time. The installation organized by 4 clubs was held open air at Bukit Jalil Recreation Park in a traditional Malay house.
Leo Kan Sha attended this event and reaches the venue at 2.30pm. The joint installation officially started at 3.30pm with Presiding Official Lion Frankie Wong call the meeting to order.
The event continues with welcoming address by Organizing Person, Leo Tan Su San, Presiding Officer and Guest of Honor, Region 3 Chairperson, lion Jason Tang. Induction & installation ceremony was next in the agenda. The event ended at 5pm and dinner/tea break was provided. Everyone went back at 6pm.

National Colouring Project

The project was started at 10am, a total of 19 children and 9 Leos took part in the project. Organizing Chairperson Leo Hoong Yih started with an opening speech and introduction about this project. After the speech, the children were then split into groups and told to color their own graphic that we distributed. Finally, the best top 7 best coloring were given prizes.
After the coloring, we join the kid for lunch. Before we leave the Children Home, we had a group picture with the children and Leo member present for this project. Overall project was a successful one with the help of KL Unity member and PECH Children.

8 KLU members attended to this meaningful Leo orientation which was organized by Lion Thuan Teck. A very knowledgeable briefing was given by Lion Sam about what is LEO, history, objective and others. After that we have a ice breaking session which we need to follow a chicken dance. The next sharing session we were divided into each role of the member in a club, President, Secretary, Treasurer, Directors and Members. The orientation ended with lunch at around 1pm and ended around 2pm with a group photos.

Blood Donation Campaign.

We attended a blood donation campaign at Thean Hou Temple at the early morning on 29th July 2012. The campaign started at 8.30a.m. There were many part of activity held in this hall such as blood donation, checking of sugar level by SSL, pledge organ and traditional Chinese medicine by Society of Xia Men Chinese Medicine Malaysia. The guest of honor was YB Datuk Donald Lim. He gave some speeches and had an opening ceremony. We helped out on arrange traffic at SSL’s checking zone and encourage people to have their organ pledge. There were 854 bags of blood collected, 18 organ pledge received, 150 people were screened for health where they had their glucose level checked, BMI and 20 tested for cholesterol. We leave the campaign on 12.30pm due to some of them have their next planning.

Charity Food Basket

All attendees, including 5 KLU members, 3 other guests, gathered at McDonald SS2 at 8am to carpool together to Food Charity Basket, Klang.
We arrived Klang at about 08.30am. We helped the Community to set up the tables and Distribution goods. At about 9:30 AM the distribution started. The unfortunates family start coming and register to the registration counter. After registered they come to the goods distribution counter to collect the goods such as Bihun, Instant noodle, Baked bean, Sardine, and rice. There were about more than 60 families came on that day. At about 1pm , The distribution has finished and we went back home.

As the date of this installation fell on the same day of our club’s General Meeting, we only have one representative to attend this event. It was Leo Club of Petaling Jaya Integrity’s 13th Installation, themed “A Colorful Tomorrow”, held at SJK © Yuk Chai.
The installation was attended by many other Leo Clubs as well, which included Leo Cabinet, Leo Club of Serdang, Leo Club of MCKL, Leo Club of Sunway Metro, Leo Club of PJI, Leo Club of Ipoh Unity, Leo Club of Inti International University.
The event started at 1.30pm for registration and was called to order by Leo Leong Wai Yew, followed by the national anthem and the Leo pledge was done by Leo Kevin Chew. Roll call of clubs were then heard from each clubs who attended and there were speeches given by the Organizing Chairperson Leo Hong Hui Chee, the immediate Past President Leo Leong Wai Yew, the DC of Leo Development Lion Nelson Wong and also the president of Lion’s Club of Petaling Jaya, Lion Christopher Yee. The new president of PJI, Loe Brian Cheng then gave a speech at the end. There was lucky draw event after the performance and all clubs have a souvenir to receive at the end of the event. The event ended around 5pm and refreshment was served. Pretty cupcakes with the shape of rainbows were the highlight for the event.

Visiting PJ Caring Home

Here's what we learnt from PJ Caring Home (Near Assunta Hospital):

They consist of 5 homes that house and treat residents who are mentally unstable. They collect a minimal fee from the residents, although some of them are actually non-paying (Homeless or family-less).
The founder/person-in-charge is Mr. Peru and he explained to us how he was particular about the medication given to the residents, to keep them in a stable conditions. Some of the more 'aware' residents are actually given some responsibilities/duties to take care of the home. In fact, after our chat, one of the residents Andrew brought us around the home. According to Mr. Peru, when Andrew first came in his condition was bad and he was hot-tempered. If we had not known Andrew better, we would not have suspected his medical condition.
Mr. Peru explained that we can organize parties or karaoke sessions with the residents, to keep them entertained and happy.
In addition, Mr. Peru mentioned that they replace single bed mattresses very frequently. This is because whenever they are stained with urine, they cannot keep these mattresses for long. We can consider donating some mattresses to the centre.

We had dinner and movie outing at Sunway Pyramid. We gathered at Penang One Café for dinner, and after dinner, we went to TGV to watch a movie “The Dark Knight Rises”. After movie, we stopped by a nearby restaurant for supper. Everybody had a good time and we hope there will be another movie outing in the near future.

We attended the Inauguration of District Governor Chan Hoi and Installation of Cabinet Officers 2012-2013 which was held at Crowne Plaza Mutiara Kuala Lumpur. Guest of Honor of the day was International President Wayne A. Madden.
The event started at 7pm.There were Lions Club that came from B1 and B2.18 Leos had jointly participated in this event.

We attended the MD308 Leo Forum 2012 which took part in Langkawi for 3 days and 2 nights. The first day began with a forum tour to the cable car and registration of participants. Later that night there was the opening ceremony as well as the fellowship night dinner. The 2^nd day began with a short seminar for each board of directors to enhance their knowledge on their respective roles. After that there was the award presentation and the banquet night dinner that follows after. On the last day, there was the closing ceremony and we headed back to Kuala Lumpur in the afternoon.

We have achieved 9 project awards including (Environmental, Leo with children, Leo serving together with Lions, innovative, community service, club bulletin, fund raising, and international relationship)

Leo Maggie has achieved Outstanding Leo Member Award, Leo Teh Jie Lin has achieved Top Treasurer Award, Leo Peir Ee has achieved Top Secretary Award, Leo Heng Kok Yi has achieved Top President Award

And The Leo Club of KL Unity is presented the Top Leo Club in MD308 B1 for 2012.

Contribution to The Community Service Centre for the Deaf

From our previous BLOG posted on the 18th March 2012. Our Fundraising project for the Community Service Centre for the Deaf (CSCD) which we managed to raise Fund during Valentine Day by selling cookies made by CSCD’s Baker.

Blog on the 18th of March 2012. 

This project was organized to raise funds for them and our club managed to sell everything that we ordered. After that project has successfully carry out, Leo Club of KL Unity agree to contribute a total sum of RM 2,000.00 to CSCD.

Leo Kok Yi went there on 21st of April 2012 afternoon to present the cheque to them.

10th Twinning Anniversary Dinner of Leo Club of KLCC and Leo Club of The Peak

On the 4^th of April, we attended the 10^th twinning anniversary dinner of the Leo Club of KLCC and the Leo Club of The Peak from Hong Kong at Songket, a restaurant the serves local cuisine.

The dishes that was served on that night, Beef Rendang, Ikan Masak Lemak, Ayam Pandan, Paku Pakis Belacan and the dessert, Durian Tiramisu.

Our Annual Leo Orientation was held on 24th March 2012 at GoldHill Club, Kepong. It was organized basically for the new members and potential members. 

Total Leos attended is 16 consisting of Leos from 5 Leo Clubs namely Leo Club of SMK Jinjang, Leo Club of Kepong, Leo club of City West, Leo Club of KLCC and Leo Club of KLP.
Apart from that, the 5 Lions were present on that day are Lioness Loke Kit Cheng, Lion James, Lion How Pak Kong, Lion Ken Jern and Lion Foo See Yow.

And the total guest attended is 9.

After the welcoming speech given by the emcee, Joshua Tan, the orientation continued to ice breaking games by Maggie Tan. Nevertheless, the event went on, with Lion James Andres talking about the "Leos and Leo Clubs". By the end of the talk, participants will have gained knowledge in history, objectives and projects of Leo Clubs.

Later, participants were shown the presentations on our club's history, projects and social activities to know more about Leo Club of KL Unity. An Q&A quiz and team building games were later conducted by Maggie and the prizes were distributed to the winners. 

The orientation ended with some refreshments followed by a few group photos taking sessions.
