Leo Club of KLCC Orientation

Venue : Lion HQ, Bandar Sri Damansara

Leo Club of Kuala Lumpur City Center (Omega) organized a Leo Orientation on the 2^nd February 2013 @ Lion HQ, Bandar Sri Damansara. 

Attended by Leo Peir Ee and Leo Maggie - Roar Roar Roar

This event carries the purposes are to give an opportunity of fostering a closer ties between Alpha and Omega Leos and also To foster a better understanding of the objectives, activities and the origin of Leo Club of Kuala Lumpur City Centre (Omega).

The event started at 10.30am. The speaker for this event is Lion Foo See Yow by explaining the objectives and activities of LEO. The members of Leo Club of KLCC also conduct a session to explaining about the Youth Exchange.

After the formal session, we had some fun and interesting ice breaking games with the Alpha and Omega Leos.

World Leprosy Day 2013

World Leprosy Day 2013

Date: 27^th January 2013(Sunday)

Time: 9.00a.m. – 1.00p.m.

Venue: Leprosy Centre (Sungai Buloh)

This year World Leprosy Day was held on the 27^th of January 2013, this project jointly organized by Lions Clubs of District B1 & B2.  Many other Lions and Leos club was present for this project. For KL Unity Leo’s, Leo Peir Ee, David and Kan Sha were present for this project. We reach there about 9am and headed to the main hall.

At the Hall, Speeches  from Organizing Chairperson, Lion Chu, Guest of Honor, Past District Governor, Lion Woon Fong Piew, MARA representative and Sungai Buloh Hospital representative gave their speech respectively. 

  

Donations of 2 wheelchairs were given to the Sungai Buloh Hospital as a token of appreciation.

After that ended, we were split into few groups to visit the old folks. We were with our sponsoring club 

Lions Club of KL North and sister club Leo Club SMK Jinjang together.

We spend an hour or two talking, singing and giving out angpau to the old folk there.

When we spend time with the old folks, some of us were inspire or sad when they told us about their pass journey/experience. 

At the closing stage, Birthday song was sing for January and February babies and cake was distributed to the old folks and also Ang Pau was given up by the Lions to the Old Folks. 

The project ended at 1pm and everyone when home.            

  

Activity attended - Visit to Furry Friends Farm

Visit To Furry Friends Farm

Date: 20^th January 2013(Sunday)

This was a CNY project organized by the Lions Club of KL North and I was invited to join them in this meaningful visit. The farm, as I have come to know about on the day itself, was almost as big as two football fields. In it were inhabited by 400 cats and dogs and 1 goat. 

We also come to know that their operational cost per month is RM40,000.00 and they survive solely on pledges and donations.

We were given a short tour around the farm.

After the tour, we proceeded to the cheque presentation as well as animal food donation.

President Nyza, owner of Furry Friends Farm explained that there are people who care for orphans, homeless people and under privileged people; while her passion is to care for homeless and wounded cats and dogs.

LION YES CAMP 2012

Lion YES Camp 2012

Date: 10^th December 2012 – 13^th December 2012

Venue: PLKN Gopeng, Perak

The 4-days-3-nights YES Camp 2012 was organized by the Lions Club International District 308-B1 and it was led by the Organizing Chairperson, Lion Belinda Koo. There were 12 facilitators from the Omega Leo Clubs in District 308-B1. Total of 142 campers participated in LION YES CAMP 2012. The objective of this camp was to develop youth essential skills and life values for the campers.

All campers arrived in the campsite at about 10.30am on Monday morning, and the camp officially began at 1.00am during the opening ceremony by Lion Belinda Koo. Throughout the whole camp, the Organizing Committee focused on the 12 essential keys/values, and conducted 4 separate presentation sessions, with each session tackling 3 different keys. Lions Dr. Ben, Lion Ching and Lion Sashekala were responsible for presenting the various keys throughout the sessions. 

There were also outdoor activities and team building games to bring the campers closer, and also inculcate some of these values in them in the process. The campers had a lot of fun as they were exposed to outdoor activities such as ‘Flying Fox’, ‘Obstacle Course’ and ‘Rafting’.

Leo Peir Ee and Leo Maggie were assigned as group facilitator for group 1 & group 4 respectively. 

A group facilitator is charged to oversee the progress of the group, as well as maintaining order in the group. The event officially ended on the 13^th December at 1.00pm, after the closing ceremony. The campers left from the campsite at 2.00pm.

Leo Club of Southern Cross and Leo Club of KDU College Orientation

Date : 17^th March 2011 (Saturday)

Time : 11:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.

Venue: KDU College, Auditorium

Members present: Leo Joshua, Leo Kan Sha

Leo Club of Southern Cross & Leo Club of KDU College organized a joint orientation and has invited KL Unity to attend as well. The event was supposed to commence at 10.00am, but was delayed for about an hour because most participants have not arrived yet. At 11.00am, the Orientation was officially started. First, the event was started off with the National Anthem and the Leo Pledge, followed by a short speech from the Organizing Chairperson. The Orientation presentation was then given by Lion Foo, who was the invited speaker for the day. The presentation which explains the origins and background of Leo movement, lasted for about 30 minutes. After the presentation, the committee prepared some games for the participants to play. Lunch was also provided during the event. The whole event ended at about 1.30pm. 

 

Memorandum of Understanding between Lions Club & St. John Ambulance, Malaysia

Date : 25^th February 2011 (Saturday)

Time : 9:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

Venue: Bangunan Yeo Cheng Swee

Leo Kan Sha attended the Signing Ceremony of the MoU (Memorandum of Understanding between Lions Club of District B1 & B2 & St. John Ambulance Malaysia). The event started with speech from OC Lion Wesley Er, follow by speech of District Governer of 308B1, Lion Dr Ben C.Ng & 308B2 Lion Shawn Lee and lastly St. John representative personal on behalf of Chief Dato ‘ Dr.Low Bin Tick.

After the speeches, the MoU Signing ceremony begins with both parties exchanging their sign copy of agreement and also exchange of bannerettes too.

A preview of first aid workshop was then conducted by St. John Ambulance trainer

Light refreshment was then prepared for us after the workshop.

A site visit to the St. John Ambulances HQ down the road took place

 

The event ended at 11.30am after the site visit.
