1st KL Omega Leo Clubs Joint Installation - August 2010

The event started roughly at around 2.30pm, where it started with the arrival of Lion Dignitaries and guests. After the Presiding Officer called the meeting to order, the national anthem was sung and Leo Pledge was recited. A round of roll-call and banner parade were next held. This was then followed by addresses by Presiding Officer, Leo Club District Chairperson Lion Sashekala and Organizing Chairperson respectively. The attendance of 200 over Leos and Lions alike listened attentively.

Shortly after, the installation of new members begun where all new Leo Club members took a swear of oath. This is then followed by the induction of new board of directors, where the respective club BODs were called upon the stage to swear the oath. The ceremony was duly performed in a very organized manner and ended with the respective sponsoring Lions club President presenting the club gavel to the newly installed Presidents.

Dinner was then served and the guests were treated to a couple of performances, which consist of a Gu Zheng recital and hip-hop singing/dancing. To close the event, the committee members gather to take a group photo, where all the Leos were free to socialize. We took the opportunity to congratulate the other club members as well as catch up with some of them. By 5.00pm, we said our goodbyes.

10th KL Alpha Leo Clubs Joint Installation - August 2010

As we were in charge of the registration and ticketing for year 2010 Joint Installation, all of us reached Confucious High School at about 8.30 a.m.  Making preparation for the registration counter, Leo Sheng Wei, Leo Eong Xien and Leo Jia Yi helped out while most of us waited inside the hall to be installed. The hall started to be occupied by the Leos and guests around 9.00 a.m. and by 9.30 a.m., the event started officially. The meeting was called to order by the Presiding Officer at around 9.45 a.m. followed by the play of National Anthem, Leo Pledge, and the welcome address by the organizing chairperson.

The event was continued by the roll calls of all the Leo Clubs who were present at the event followed by the banner parade of the participating Leo Clubs. After that, came the speech of the presiding officer and also the Guest of Honour for the event. After two brilliant speeches given by both the presiding officer and the Guest of Honour, the theme of the Joint Installation launched officially “Jai Ho”. The first performance of the event was performed by KDU Leos. As the dance was associated with the theme “Jai Ho”, everyone enjoyed the amazing performance performed by the KDU Leos. Next, the new members took the oath and were officially installed by Lion Shashekala. It was followed by installation of the Presidents, Key Officers and the Board of Directors by the Guest of Honour, 1st VDG, Dr. Ben C. Ng.. The newly installed Presidents, key officers and Boards of Directors took the oath of agreeing in taking up the responsibility as their role. After that, comes the gavel presentation by Lions to the respective Leo President. The event was ended by the acceptance speech by the incoming president representative. Meeting was adjourned by the Presiding Officer.

Several performances were performed by the Leos. Most of the performances were duet singing performance. The beat boxing was performed by an outsider who is non-Leo by the name of A Beat C. His performance has definitely attracted the attention of the audience. Another performance which has also attracted the attention of the audience is wonder girls’ Nobody performed by the Leos. After all these performances, everyone got up and social around with other Leos. Lunch was provided at the canteen of the High School. After lunch, we managed to take a few group photos together at the hall along with some of the Lions of KL North.

Social with Leos and YEs - August 2010

A Potluck was organized by Leo Eong Xien at his place on the 14th of August 2010. This potluck is also to bid farewell to the Youth Exchange (YE) from other countries such as Belgium, Norway, Finland and also Japan who are leaving. Some of our Leos hosted some YEs as well. This night was full of laughters and fun! Almost everyone bring their own food. The YEs even made some food from their country. Hence, the varieties of food are really huge and also, it was a good experience for us, Malaysians because we get to try a variety of food from different countries. This potluck is more of a social and gathering of YEs, host families and also Leos. Everyone enjoyed the night. The potluck ended at about 12am.

LEO Orientation - JULY 2010

The annual school for Leo Clubs which is also known as Leo Orientation was held on the 24th of July. This time, our club was in charge of the registering so we reached Goldhill club at about 8.00am to get ready for the registration of the participants. With the organization club, Lions Club of KL North, 2 more clubs attended the Leo Orientation as well which comprises of Leo Club of SMK Jinjang and Leo club of Sultan Abdul Samad. The event started with the opening speech by Lion Lim Chun Nge and followed by Leo pledge and Roll call around 9.00am.

After the welcoming speech given by the OC and region chairperson, the respective Lions then presented their own speech about Leos and Lions to give us an understanding about Leos and Lions. After the brief understanding given by fellow Lions, we had a short break.

The breakout session was right after the short break. This is where presidents, secretaries, treasurers and directors and members were separated into groups. These small groups were conducted by Lion Lim Chin Wee, Lion Janette Pang, Lion Hong Thuan Teck and also Lion Tony Yee. During the breakout session, the Leos were taught their roles and responsibilities of their position.

After the break out session, another 2 more talk were conducted by Lion How and Lion Ken Jern about the responsibilities and projects and activities. An Q&A session was later conducted by Lion Ben Sng. Lunch was provided after the Q&A Session and a group photo was taken. The event officially ended after that.
