LION YES CAMP 2012

Lion YES Camp 2012

Date: 10^th December 2012 – 13^th December 2012

Venue: PLKN Gopeng, Perak

The 4-days-3-nights YES Camp 2012 was organized by the Lions Club International District 308-B1 and it was led by the Organizing Chairperson, Lion Belinda Koo. There were 12 facilitators from the Omega Leo Clubs in District 308-B1. Total of 142 campers participated in LION YES CAMP 2012. The objective of this camp was to develop youth essential skills and life values for the campers.

All campers arrived in the campsite at about 10.30am on Monday morning, and the camp officially began at 1.00am during the opening ceremony by Lion Belinda Koo. Throughout the whole camp, the Organizing Committee focused on the 12 essential keys/values, and conducted 4 separate presentation sessions, with each session tackling 3 different keys. Lions Dr. Ben, Lion Ching and Lion Sashekala were responsible for presenting the various keys throughout the sessions. 

There were also outdoor activities and team building games to bring the campers closer, and also inculcate some of these values in them in the process. The campers had a lot of fun as they were exposed to outdoor activities such as ‘Flying Fox’, ‘Obstacle Course’ and ‘Rafting’.

Leo Peir Ee and Leo Maggie were assigned as group facilitator for group 1 & group 4 respectively. 

A group facilitator is charged to oversee the progress of the group, as well as maintaining order in the group. The event officially ended on the 13^th December at 1.00pm, after the closing ceremony. The campers left from the campsite at 2.00pm. 

Omega Leo Club of Southern Cross Anniversary Dinner

Leo Club of Southern Cross 6^th Anniversary Dinner

Date: 22^nd December 2012(Saturday)

Time: 7.30p.m. – 11.00p.m.

Venue: Namoo In the Park, Publika

Leo Eong Xien and Leo Joshua attended Leo Club of Southern Cross’s 6^th Anniversary Dinner. Even though the event was slated to begin at 7.30pm, the event only officially started at 8.30pm.

The dinner started off with an introduction by the emcees, Leo Yee Yin and Leo Jia Lin. The theme of the year is Sixth Sense, whereby Leo Nelson explained the additional sense refers to a Leo’s sense of the service. Then there was a short welcome address by the president Leo Derrick and OC Leo Rui Ern. The president of the Lions Club of KLCC was also invited to share his thoughts.

After the speeches, the roll call was done, showing strong support from Leo Club of KLCC, KL Perennial and also City West, as well as guests from Japan.

The food was served around 9pm, showcasing favorite delights for appetizers, main course and dessert. The birthday cupcakes came out after dessert to commemorate their 6^th anniversary.

Finally, the event officially ended around 10pm. However they were a short scavenger photo game to entertain the participants. Leo Eong Xien and Leo Joshua left the venue around 11pm.

2nd IT Class for Kids @ Sungai Way

2^nd IT Class 2012

Date: 22^nd December 2012(Saturday)

Time: 2.00p.m. – 4.00p.m.

Venue: Seri Setia IT Room @ Sungai Way Community Centre

On the 2^nd class of the 2012 batch of IT Class, Leo Joshua tutored the class that consisted of 8 children where the other Leos - Leo Jie Lin, Peir Ee, Eong Xien & Jia Hong guided the children individually. 

The class started with basic typing skills, where the children continued where they left off from last class. 

Next, Leo Joshua started teaching the children how to open Microsoft Word and navigate through Windows. The children were taught basic skills such as New Document, Open, Save, Delete, Backspace, Copy, Cut and paste. 

At the end of the session, the children were asked to type out a few sentences written on the whiteboard. At 4pm, the class was over and the Leos adjourned.

IT Class for Kids @ Sungai Way

1^st IT Class 2012

Date: 8^th December 2012(Saturday)

Time: 2.00p.m. – 4.00p.m.

Venue: Seri Setia IT Room @ Sungai Way Community Centre

It was the 1^st class of 2012. We decided to continue the project as previously due to the limited PCs we couldn't cater more than 12 kids. Those that didn't manage to join us previously were called up to join. Most of them have back to their hometown and only 3 of them for this class.

Leo Joshua was leading the class.

The children were learning proper typing skills and posture.

Kids are not only thought how to use the PC but also to care and tidy up after each use. The purpose of this is to cultivate cleanliness and responsibility

Now more people get to benefit from this project.
